Batches are a way of grouping products. The sort of grouping is up to you: it might be by publication month, or editor, or project stage – anything which helps you to manage groups of records.

There are two types of batch: ones that everyone can see, and personal/private batches for your eyes only.

To create a batch and add products to it, read Run batch actions

Why are collections of products called ‘batches’, not ‘collections’?

In Consonance, a batch is a collection of products chosen by the publisher. This grouping is internal only and does not feed out via ONIX. In ONIX 3, the term ‘collection’ is an umbrella term for any grouping of products, including any kind of series or set. We will update Consonance in due course to accommodate this new definition of a collection, which sit above series and sets.
