If you’re adding in backlist records manually, the process is almost the same as adding new ones. The most efficient way is to upload the data by spreadsheet. Go to Data exchange > Imports ⤴ or read up on how to import products.

If you still need to add a backlist product one at a time through the Consonance website:

1. Follow the instructions to add a new work

Find them at ‘Add a new work, its contract and its products’.

2. Choose a 'placeholder’ ISBN

The only difference is that you already know the ISBN13. However, you don’t manually fill in ISBN13s on this page. Choose ‘placeholder’ instead.

3. Edit the ISBN13

After you’ve saved the page, go to Work > Metadata and find the ISBN section (Publication > Identifiers). Type in your ISBN13 and click Save.
